Chemical sclerotherapy

Injection of chemicals such as Aethoxysklerol, Sclerovein, glycerol or saline into varicose veins usually leads to their blockage with blood clot. Thereafter, the veins are gradually decomposed by the organism. The success rate is about 80 %, which is clearly lower than after thermal ablation.
For the sclerotherapy of spider veins, we often use liquid glycerin (Chromalaun).
For the treatment of sizable varicose veins, we prefer Aethoxysklerol® or Sclerovein®. These liquid sclerosants are mixed with air immediately before the treatment in order to form a foam. Thus, the effect is greatly enhanced.
